The LOVE of Ironing

When I was a new bride-to-be the one thing I really wanted on my wedding registry was a Rowenta steam iron and the Rowenta ironing board. To me, this was one of the finest gifts I received. I was thrilled when I opened my gift to see a brand new Rowenta Steam Press and ironing board for my new home. Today, after 18 years of marriage, I am still using both gifts. My steam iron works just like they day I opened it and my ironing board is in great shape.
“What is Rowenta’s secret and how do they make such a superb product,” I wondered? I starting thinking about what Rowenta has been doing all these years because my iron is still in tip top shape. Catching Up with Rowenta
Mica Barton, Editor for Susie Homemaker Inc., and I were invited to Rowenta’s big event on how “Ironing has Evolved” in New York City earlier this year. The event was very posh and we met everyone from the CEO to the sales reps who flew in for this event from around the world. The Rowenta team was not only kind but also extremely passionate about their products. We learned how ironing had involved though time and why the more holes in the plate of the iron actually conducts a strong steam flow to press your clothes faster.
What most interested me is that having a strong steam iron in your home can cut back on your dry cleaning? Already this was saving the consumer money. But I still wanted to know more.
Testing the New Rowenta Products

The Susie Homemaker test team put Rowenta’s fleet of irons to the test for six months of everyday use. And, here are the results.
We found that Rowenta has an iron for everyone in all price ranges, sizes and colors. I bet you’ve never heard of any woman who has ever confessed that she loves to do laundry, or for that matter fact, loves to iron. But, I have to say that with all the modern conveniences of today, ironing is truly just a little more fun.
Effective Iron

Commercial Garment Steamer
We were impressed with how fast this steamer heats up - just 90 seconds. From start to finish, this steamer eliminated wrinkles in all types of fabric. Rowenta offers three Commercial Garment Steamers ranging in price from $130 - $180.
Steam ‘n Press Steambrush
At home or on the road, this lightweight steambrush removed wrinkles without a problem. We even stuffed a suitcase with slightly damp, balled-up clothes and left it for a week. When we removed all the clothes, the steambrush took out all the wrinkles. At $50, we were impressed.
Compact Iron
As with the Steambrush, we put the Compact Iron through the suitcase test. The results were great. Designed for travel, this iron has a folding handle, dual voltage capability and has all the features of a home iron. Around $40.
Pressure Iron & Steamer
With the Pressure Iron & Steamer it’s like having a professional dry cleaner in your home. This system is complete with a 33 oz. water tank, 6 ft. steam cord and 12 ft. power cord for ultimate convenience. A business journey takes a turn to a rare discovery

While in New York on business, Mica Barton, Editor for Susie Homemaker, and I we made the most amazing discovery -- the Fountain of Youth.
Now, we know what you’re thinking, right Susie and Mica. But it’s true!
On a very busy day in early April the weather in New York City was cold and rainy with snow flurries. Our plane landed early that morning from Dallas. We were in town for a few days of meetings, but scheduled enough time for some sight seeing and shopping.
Yes, two women unleashed in New York City. What more could any woman ask for, other than a cab? So we hit 5th Ave. in the harsh rain, sleet and cold. Two women determined to go shopping in one of the world’s shopping meccas. So, we put on our gloves, opened our umbrellas and started to walk and shop. Be still our hearts when we saw Saks Fifth Ave. It was like the gates of heaven opened just for us. No trip would be complete to New York without a trip to Saks.
As we walked into the golden doors, the outside world seemed to disappear and there we were in a place of beauty. Where were we to start? We walked in slowly in awe of all the new styles and fragrances. Our hearts started to pump while our wish lists grew. Perfume, make up and handbags, oh my!
The store was packed on a Tuesday afternoon. Everywhere we walked we were spritzed with perfumes. No one missed a beat. Saleswomen with creams and potions, and make-up and lotions, rushed out to us with samples.
We could feel the jet lag starting to hit so we searched for a quite place to catch our breath and people watch for awhile. Finally, we darted into a quite area of the skincare counters and sat down on some stools. Little did we know that we were about to make the dream discovery every woman wishes for!
As we sat down to take a break, the most beautiful young lady walked up to us and said, “I would love for you to try our new product line of skin care.” She politely took my hands, put some cream on them and asked me to rub them together. Then she put some cream on Mica’s hands and around her eyes and asked us how the cream felt. We told her it was really nice but we had to go, not wanting to be late for our meeting. We left very quickly.
Both of us were very skeptical of the creams she was telling us about. She gave us a flyer and a few samples of the products and we dashed off. As for many of us, creams are creams and filled with empty promises. We did not want another sales pitch and had little faith that any cream would ever give us any results other than just cream on your skin.
Mica and I went on with our day. We made it on time to our meeting and then we walked in the cold rain to a wonderful Italian restaurant to catch our breath before we had to make our plane back to Dallas. As we sat in our booth I looked down at my hands and they looked beautiful -- plump and young and the skin had a glow I could not explain. Mica was noticing the same thing with her hands. They also looked amazing but then I looked up at Mica’s eyes and the fine lines were gone. They vanished! We both sat in silence looking in amazement thinking we were in the twilight zone. How could this be? This cannot be real, but it was.
We grabbed our flyers and read the name of the company, 3LAB. We looked at our watches and thought that maybe, if we ate quickly, we could make it back to Saks to find out more about this company and their skin care before our plane left. Time was not in our favor. We had a little under 2 hours to make it from 17th Street to 49th Street and 5th Avenue and then to the airport. Always on the look for innovative products for women, we knew we had to go back to Saks and find out more about 3LAB, who they were and why our skin looked 10 years younger.
We ate quickly, took a cab to Saks Fifth Avenue., and ran through the sea of shoppers and sat back down at the 3LAB counter and there we talked to the sales rep, Brenda, and told her what happen to us with the cream and we needed to know more about 3LAB. At this point, Mica and I had no doubt that we had discovered the fountain of youth.
We knew as we sat in Saks that 3LAB had unleashed the secret of beauty and youth in their creams. We had found the proverbial fountain of youth right smack in the middle of New York City. And yes, we did miss our plane out of New York, but were lucky enough to catch the red-eye back to Dallas and it was so worth it!

We took six everyday people and had them use the 3LAB creams for six weeks, then extended the test to three months, and found that the results were not only good -- they were amazing.
3LAB has something for every skincare type. You will notice that 3LAB as no fragrance in their products. This means their products are pure and clean, just what your skin needs for your overall health.
I was blessed with youthful skin but I am not without my skin issues just like everyone else. I have dry skin in places and I also get sunspots when I spend too much time in the sun. With my face in front of the TV camera and the many photo shoots, I have to look my best. My results were astounding from the moment I started using 3LAB.
Once I started to use 3LAB WW Cream, my skin started looking more youthful. It works! It is the best cream on the market today. My fine lines were gone for good and even stress lines on my face are gone. I know many of you will say the WW Cream is a lot of money – it retails for $400 at saks.com -, but it really isn’t over time. It will be the only face cream you will need to buy for 12-18 months. The jar of cream will last you a long time because you only use a small amount each day. When you think of the cost of Botox and other injection fillers that hurt to use, this cream is worth the cost. The WW Cream is easy to use and long lasting. As you use it, the cream actually starts to firm the face so you need less of the cream each day.
The “h” Serum made my skin moist and silky. This is another winning product and the price is right for this. The dryness of my skin started to return to a normal level and the more I used 3LAB the more glow and softness I had on my skin.
I used the Hydrating Vita Cream along with the WW Cream and H Serum. It was like taking my face out of the dry desert and pouring on hydrating healing water. The Hydrating Vita Cream works so well for everyday. I tested the Spot Erase Complex and in two days my sunspots started to fade. I will tell you I had been using a product that is sold in the spas as the top ranking skin care line but once I used 3LAB’s products, there was no comparison. I looked in all my bathroom cabinets and threw out all the lotions and potions that promised me results of nice skin. Now, I just have 3LAB products in my everyday beauty regimen.
3LAB products worked for the rest of the test team as well.
Team Results
Mica
As the mother of two preschoolers, my skin care regime has to be quick, easy and effective. So, I tested 3LAB’s Perfect C Eye Treatment, Hydrating Vita Cream and the WW Cream.
The Perfect C Eye Treatment is wonderful and fragrance-free. With just a touch under my eyes and on the outer corners, my face looks fresh. The fine lines are gone and my skin looks and feels radiant.
I started using the WW Cream morning and night, as I did with my previous moisturizers. Now, I find that I can use it just once each day for a fresh look and feel. The fine lines and some not-so-fine-lines smile lines around my mouth and nose seem to have vanished. But, I still use this everyday because I’m quite a talker and love to smile, and I don’t want the lines to reappear.
I use the WW Cream each night and the Hydrating Vita Cream each morning. The Hydrating-Vita Cream is light-weight and absorbs easily, leaving a youthful, dewy feel to my face and neck.
I am thrilled with all of these products and look forward to testing the skin cleansers. The simplicity of these moisturizing creams is great. Simply apply, pat into your skin and you’re ready to apply your makeup. There’s no need for a second or third application and my makeup stays on very well with these moisturizing creams.

As the grandmother in this test, my expectations were not high. After all, I have four children and eight grandchildren and I’ve happily earned these laugh lines. What I didn’t earn are the fine lines all over my face, so that’s what I wanted to make disappear.
I started the test a little differently than the others. I only tested the Perfect C Eye Treatment and the WW Cream. But, I only tested them on one side of my face. Big mistake, after only two days I looked lopsided. One side of my face began looking younger and smoother which made the other side look dramatically older. I quickly started using the 3LAB products on both sides of my face. My eyes look brighter and my face feels moisturized and smoother. The fine lines on my face seemed to vanish before my eyes. Sort of like watching the minute hand on a clock, I knew the WW Cream was working and then suddenly the wrinkles were gone.

As the token male in the test group, I used only one product, 3LAB’s WW Cream. The most significant change I noticed was on my forehead. Within a few days, the deep stress wrinkles in my forehead began to look smaller. People asked me if I had been on vacation because I looked so relaxed. It’s nice to have a subtle change. Plus, my wife thinks my face feels really smooth.

Because I travel frequently by air, my face has a tendency to dry out quickly. The skin around my eyes is very dry and these wrinkles cause me to look older than I am. I got to test the Perfect C Eye Treatment and the Perfect C Serum. I was so overwhelmed by the results that I went out and bought more of the products, at Barneys New York, Northpark Center here in Dallas, when the test phase was completed. Now, my skin looks and feels dewy and fresh. Even on days when I have very little sleep, my skin looks fresh and helps keep me going all day. I’ll start teaching my three beautiful teenaged daughters about daily skin care so that they can have wonderful skin.

Having normal skin, prone to sunspots, I tested the WW Cream, Perfect C Eye Treatment and the Spot Erase Complex. I loved the thick, creamy WW Cream and the results were more than I expected. My fine lines and wrinkles actually seemed to disappear. I was amazed! The same is true for the results around my eyes. The Perfect C Eye Treatment erased my little crow’s feet and really hydrated the fine skin under my eyes. These two products are products that I’ll use for a long time.
I was a little skeptical of the Spot Erase Complex. So many products promise to lighten and erase sunspots, and they all fail. Not this one. I love this product on my face and neck. My skin definitely looks more youthful and radiant. And, I don’t have to use as much concealer and foundation on my face for an even look.
Final Results
All of our testers used their assigned products, based on skin type, for six weeks. After the first six-week test was completed, our testers continued to use the products for another six weeks, totaling three months. The before and after photos reveal what is stated above, that each participant had younger, healthier looking skin at the conclusion of the six week, and three month tests.
Although these fabulous skin care products are more expensive than many department store products, they last longer, use higher quality ingredients and the results are significant. I recommend 3LAB moisturizing products to all my friends. |
